Derek Skala was born and raised in Owatonna and is a graduate of St. Cloud State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a minor in Finance. He has built his banking career through progressive leadership roles with experience in credit administration, and relationship management, along with a strong specialization in agricultural banking. Derek also brings experience in small business financing, giving him practical insight into the financial needs and long-term goals of individuals, families, and businesses throughout rural communities.
In addition to his banking career, Derek remains actively involved in operating the family farm where he grew up, further strengthening his connection to the agricultural community he serves.
Derek and his wife, Kayla, have two children, Brooks and Riley. He is active in the community through coaching and volunteering. The Skala family enjoys spending time outdoors on the farm and at the lake, as well as golfing and traveling.
